LOS ANGELES, CA & NEW YORK, NY -- JULY 25, 2018 -- RYOT and VICE Studios today announced a partnership to co-produce and co-finance a series of feature length documentaries from visionary filmmakers that push the boundaries of traditional storytelling. The multi-million-dollar fund will allow for the production of a slate of documentary projects over the next two years, with the first film to be announced this fall and premiere in 2019. This collaboration brings together the talents of the Oscar-nominated and Emmy award-winning companies and maximizes distribution opportunities across the globe.
RYOT and VICE are committed to producing documentaries with a focus on diversity and inclusion, both on and off the screen. The documentary fund will seek established and up-and-coming filmmakers with a distinct point-of-view, harnessing their own voice and telling stories that must be shared.
RYOT brings along a deep knowledge and rich history of making critically-acclaimed and immersive global documentaries – telling authentic human stories that provoke discovery and inspire change. Combined with VICE's award-winning, distinct style and vision, this slate of documentary films will set the standard for storytelling in the years to come.
The feature length documentary initiative is spearheaded by Hayley Pappas, Head of RYOT Films, Bryn Mooser, CEO & Co-Founder of RYOT and Danny Gabai, Executive Creative Director for VICE Studios.
