At Yahoo, we’ve always embraced open source. From open sourcing Hadoop and changing the world of big data, to building out the Yahoo Developer Network which engages millions of developers to create web and mobile applications, we believe in open source and giving back to the community.

Today, I’m thrilled to announce that we will be hosting a virtual hackathon, Yahoo Hack Together. The goal of this hackathon is to grow the community around open source projects that power the Yahoo apps and products you love. We’re open to new ideas and contributions. And yes, there will be swag!

The Hackathon will run March 21-28, 2021. The projects in scope for the event span Data, Design, DevOps, and Information Security (Defense).

What we have planned:

  • Suggested topics/issues for you to get started
  • Support channels to reach out to project maintainers
  • Office Hours to ask questions and get feedback
  • Verizon Media swag & prizes

Even if you don’t code - there are many ways you can get involved! Eligible contributions include accessibility reviews, coding, design, documentation, translations, user experience, and social media content suggestions.

Yahoo is on a mission to create digital experiences that connect people, passions and platforms in bold consumer-first ways. Join us! Register today.
